Here’s a list of the Films the Oscars Skip

The complete #blackout of the 2016 Academy Awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is largely disappointing. Only two projects starring black actors make the cut in the field of nearly one hundred nominees who will be lucky enough to receive an Oscar, Straight Out of Compton is nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Sylvester Stallone for Best Supporting Actor in the film CREED starring Michael B Jordan. Other minority oriented films like The Revenant directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Nina Simone’s biopic ‘What Happened, Miss Simone? directed by Liz Garbus, Amy Hobby, and Justin Wilkes are also nominated. If the Academy largely composed of sound and film engineers at some point grew enough balls not to ignore minority filmmakers (when I say minority I mean black) and actors here is what the 2016 list would look like:

Best Picture: Straight Outta Compton

Best Actor: Jason Mitchell, Straight Outta Compton

Best Actress: YaYa Alafia, Big Words

Best Supporting Actor: Michael Ealy, The Perfect Guy

Best Supporting Actress: Kate Mara, Captive

Best Director: Ryan Coogler, CREED

Best Original Music Score: CREED

Also let’s not forget:

Michael B. Jordan, CREED
Idris Elba, Beasts of No Nation
Benicio Del Toro, Sicario
Tessa Thompson, CREED
Zoe Kravitz, Mad Max: Fury Road
